About Matthew Simmons

In 2010, Matthew Simmons founded Wolves and Warriors, a nonprofit initiative to benefit military veterans and apex predators, including the wolf, in Frazier Park, California. Having seen combat as a member of the United States Navy in Operation Desert Storm, Matthew Simmons developed Wolves and Warriors into a rehabilitation program for veterans who want to help stop illegal animal trafficking and poaching. Moreover, he has cooperated with the Veterans Administration to assist more than 400 veterans in re-entering society following military service through his program.

Having attracted attention for his work, Matt Simmons shared the story of his life and professional accomplishments and challenges in the documentary War in Between and a show that aired on the Animal Planet television channel. In addition to having been decorated as a U.S. Navy petty officer, he has received recognition from the Ventura County Star, which once named him Man of the Year.

An avid football fan, Mr. Simmons also enjoys swimming with sharks and otherwise spending his free time with apex predators, including wolves.
